Exploring Our Screw Press Products (Part 2)

1. Operation of the Screw Press
Before starting, open the spray device for the first ten minutes. Sludge enters through the sludge inlet, and if the flow is excessive, excess sludge water will overflow from the overflow port to prevent spillage.
Then, it flows into the coagulation mixing tank, where it merges with coagulant agents to form flocs. It enters the dewatering main body for concentration and dewatering, and clear water flows out through the gaps between the moving and stationary ring pieces into the liquid collection tank. The sludge is squeezed in the direction of the screw transport, and as the space becomes smaller and the internal pressure increases, the sludge becomes drier. Finally, it is discharged from the sludge outlet.
Half an hour before shutting down, open the spray device to clean the sludge and debris on the screw shaft and the moving and stationary ring pieces. The entire operation process of the screw press is automated, saving costs.

2. Pros and Cons of the Screw Press

(1) Advantages of the Screw Press

1) Wide Applicability

a) Suitable for sludge in industries such as municipal sewage, food and beverage, chemical, leather, welding, papermaking, printing and dyeing, and pharmaceuticals.
b) Applicable to the dewatering of high and low concentration sludge. For dewatering low concentration (2000mg/L~) sludge, there is no need to build concentration tanks or storage tanks, reducing construction costs and minimizing phosphorus release and anaerobic odor generation.

2) Compact Design

a) Compact design, including the control cabinet, metering tank, coagulation mixing tank, and the main body of the dewatering machine.
b) Small footprint, easy for maintenance and replacement; lightweight, easy for transportation.

3) Non-clogging

a) Self-cleaning function eliminates the need for cleaning to prevent filter clogging, reducing flushing water usage and internal circulation burden.
b) Effective in dewatering oily sludge.

4) Low-speed Operation

a) The rotation speed of the screw shaft is approximately 2~3 revolutions per minute, resulting in low power consumption.
b) Fewer malfunctions, low noise and vibration, ensuring safe operation.

5) Simple Operation

a) Linked with the control cabinet, foam machine, sludge pump, dosing pump, etc., achieving 24-hour continuous unmanned operation.
b) Short daily maintenance time, simple maintenance operations.

6) Durability

a) Almost the entire body is made of stainless steel, maximizing the service life.
b) Only the screw shaft and moving ring need replacement, with a long usage cycle.

(2) Disadvantages of the Screw Press

1) In terms of selection, there is currently no clear national standard for the screw press, with various manufacturers offering different models, equipment processing capabilities, and varying prices, making it inconvenient for customers to choose suitable equipment of the same model.

2) For projects with large processing volumes, the screw press sludge dewatering machine may sometimes be unable to meet the requirements, as it has limitations on processing capacity and cannot be compared with the large processing capability of belt presses.
